I love gardening, but I like to keep things super simple. Below I have shared with you all my basic gardening tips to help add a pop of color to your yard as well.
I am not a big fan of weeding. So, in my garden beds I add in some pots filled with flowers and then fill in the rest of the areas by planting herbs and flowers directly into the soil. Yes, there is still weeding to do once in awhile, but not as much when I decorate my garden this way.
Oh ya! I forgot to mention I add in gardening decorations to such as bird baths, hanging pots, humming bird feeders and little gardening nick knacks. It helps add character to my simple, yet colorful garden.
To help keep pest away I add in tons of herbs. I even use herbs that grow back every year so I am not always purchasing plants each spring. It saves a lot of money and time. When spring comes all I have to do is remove the leaves from my gardening beds, let the sunshine hit it, let the rain water it and watch the herbs grow back. However, not all herbs and flowers grow back each year. Only the perennial kind do such as mints, chives, oregano, lavender, rosemary and sage. If you are looking for a neat perennial that is simple to maintain and grow bleeding hearts are always neat to plant in a gardening bed.
Hanging pots are simple, yet add a lot of color to a yard or entryway such as a porch.
My favorite colored hanging pots to add to a yard are yellow and purple ones. Sometimes I will do pink as well.
If you are looking for a super easy perennial plant that grows and spreads fast throughout a large garden bed day lilies and irises are perfect flowers to plant.
If you are a new gardener or just hate weeding, keeping gardening simple and full of easy to grow plants is the way to go. Remember to add pots to your gardening beds as well because this well help keep the weeds down so you don't have to weed as much. Most importantly, have fun and enjoy the gardens you create.
