I live in an old farmhouse and lately we have huge spiders creeping into it. We believe it is because our old home has cracks they can easily crawl in through in order to enter our home. We are trying our hardest to repair our home and make changes so these buggers cannot get back into it, but for now, I am using homemade repellent to keep them away naturally.
Natural Ingredients & Materials Needed
To create the handy spider repellent I use citrus and mint oils because these eight-legged insects do not like the flavor or scent of them at all. I also use freshly brewed organic peppermint tea, which I pour into a spray bottle. You can find the essential oils and peppermint tea at a local whole food grocery shop. The spray bottle you might have to get at a hardware store or drugstore if you do not already have them on hand.
Creating the Spray
The easiest way I find to make the repelling product is by pouring freshly brewed, but chilled peppermint tea into the spray bottle along with twenty-drops each of mint essential oil and lemon essential oil. Then, I place the sprayer onto the bottle and give the bottle a good shake to help blend them together well. After, it is time to use the remedy to help keep the creepy crawling insects at bay naturally.
Using the Product
I find the best way to use the handmade spider repellent is by spraying it around the foundation of my home and anywhere the eight-legged bugs seem to be crawling in through to get inside my home. Then, I allow the spray to dry onto that area and that is it. I do this once or twice a week to help keep these insects away naturally. You can use the product as little or as often as you need too.
If you are worried about this repelling spray harming your home, pets, children or other insects and animals do not. This handmade product will not even bring harm to the spiders. It is simply meant to prevent the spiders from crawling into your home. Best of all, this is an earth friendly way to keep these species away.
