If you are sick of buying disinfecting sprays that contain chemicals and unnatural ingredients in them I know a better way, and that is by making your own at home.
One of my own homemade disinfecting spray recipes I love so much is my green tea and lemon one. It cleans and sanitizes all kinds of surfaces well and leaves them free from odors.
The ingredients you need to make the spray are:
If you do not have these ingredients in your kitchen or bathroom you can get them at your local grocery store for under $7, which is extremely affordable. You will also need an empty clean spray bottle too.
Creating the Spray
The way you make this homemade disinfecting spray is by first boiling a cup of water in a small saucepan. After, you want to open up the green tea bags and allow them to steep in the boiling water for 10-minutes. Then, remove the teabags from the pan and water. Now, take your lemons and squeeze the juice from them directly into the green tea mixture. After, you want to boil these ingredients together on your stove for 2-minutes on medium heat. Then allow the mixture to cool for 20-minutes. Next you will want to take a ½ cup of rubbing alcohol and pour it into the green tea and lemon mixture and mix all the ingredients together. After, you want to pour the mixture into the empty spray bottle and allow it to cool for another 30-minutes. Once your disinfecting spray is completely cool, you can use it for cleaning and disinfecting all kinds of surfaces in your home safely.
What types of of surfaces can be cleaned with the spray?
The surfaces you can use the disinfecting spray on are marble, glass, tile, linoleum, cement and stainless steel. You can also use this spray to help disinfect doorknobs, phones, keyboards, toilets, showers, sinks, stove tops, refrigerators, kitty little boxes, washer and dryer tops, and cutting boards. You may even use this spray as an air freshener to rid odors. The way you use this homemade disinfecting spray is very simple. All you do is spray the surfaces you want clean and disinfect and after wipe the surfaces down with a paper towel or rag. If you want to disinfect the air in your home just simply spray it into the air as if you were using an odor fighting spray such as Freebeeze, but I will say it is best to get a misting spray bottle for this purpose.
How does the spray disinfect?
Now, you are probably wondering how the ingredients in my homemade spray are able to disinfect surfaces. It's simple actually. The green tea has antibacterial fighting agents in it that naturally kill germs and virus on contact. The lemon contains vitamin C and antibacterial and antiviral properties that kills strands on contact too. The alcohol in the spray kills germs instantly and works as a preservative to keep the disinfecting spray fresh for as long as possible, and helps give surfaces a streak free look.
I wish you all the best of luck at making my the green tea and lemon disinfecting spray, and I hope you like how if cleans and disinfects your household naturally.
