Relaxing the body down before bedtime is key to a goodnight sleep. One of the best ways to bring calmness to the mind and body before hitting the pillow is by taking a warm bath with a calming bath melt. Some of the best bath melts to make are lavender chamomile ones because lavender and chamomile contain medicinal properties in them that have a mellowing sedative effect on the mind and body.
The Materials and Ingredients Needed
The materials you will need to make the lavender chamomile bath melts are silicone molds, which can be any shape or size you desire, and a medium sized saucepan, wire whisk and measuring cup with a pouring spout on the front of it.
The ingredients you will need to make the bath melts are cocoa butter, Shea butter, coconut oil, sea salt, lavender oil, chamomile oil, and dried herbs of lavender and chamomile flowers. These ingredients can be found at your local herbal shop or whole food grocery store.
Creating the Bath Melts
The way I create my lavender chamomile bath melts is by first measuring out a cup of cocoa butter and a cup of Shea butter and melting them down in the saucepan on low heat. Once the butters are melted, I add in two tablespoons of coconut oil and fifteen drops of each essential oil. Then, I combine these ingredients together with my wire whisk so they are well blended together to create a golden oily liquid mixture. Next, I pour the mixture into as many silicones as I can until they are filled up. After, I sprinkle the dried herbs on top to make them look decorative and relaxing. Then, I place the silicone filled molds into the refrigerator to chill and become a solid form. The chilling process usually takes about an hour or two depending on how big the silicone molds are that you have filled up. Once the bath melts become a solid form I remove them from the refrigerator and pop them out of the molds and store them away in a tubby container inside the refrigerator so they do not melt and make a mess. Then, whenever I need to use one, I simply go get one and drop it into my bath for a relaxing soak.
Proper Way to use the Bath Melts
The easiest and best way to use the homemade lavender chamomile bath melts I by first filling up the bathtub with plenty of hot water. After, drop in as many bath melts as you would like. As soon as the melts hit the water they will dissolve and create a luxurious relaxing bath with a heavenly sweet calming lavender chamomile scent. The scent should calm your mind and the warmth of the bath on your body should bring you cozy comfort and relief from any tension or aches and pains stored up in the body.
Using these bath melts before bedtime is the perfect time to use them to help you bring peace and calmness to the mind and body, but you may use them during the day to if you need stress relief, anxiety relief or relief from the winter blues or depression. However, those of you allergic to chamomile or lavender or any other ingredients in these melts should not use them. Overall, these bath melts help relax you and soften your skin and body from head to toe.
