The farm is open from May 1st until the end of October seven days a week from 10 am until 5 pm. Then the farm and museum are open at different times throughout the winter for special events, which you can find out on their website that is attached to my article. The price to get into the Billings Farm and Museum is eleven dollars for adults, ten dollars for seniors, and six dollars for children and teens that are fifteen years old and younger.
The Billings Farm and Museum was all started by an old Vermonter named Frederick Billings who wanted to build a farm and forestry that would help serve future Vermont generations in the future by being a role model and showing them how a farmer was and how to run a successful farm. Fredericks Billings did just that by planting over 10,000 trees, creating a growing dairy farm, and building his farm. However Frederick Billings wasn't only just a farmer he was a lawyer, a railroad worker, a conservationist, and a pioneer in reforestation. However after many years of successful work and business Frederick Billings past away and left his farm for everyone to see and explore, which is why its called The Billings Farm and Museum today.
Some of the things to do and see at Billing Farm and Museum would be to tour the museum and learn about Frederick Billings's life, visiting with the farm animals, explore the inside of the farm houses, visit the dairy barn, and visiting with the people at the quilting exhibit. One of my favorite things to do at the Billings Farm and Museum is feeding the farm animals such as the goats, cows, sheep, pigs, and horses. Then I like walking through all the old farm houses and seeing how they use to make butter, bread, milk, jams, and other amazing goodies back in the day. After I like exploring the barns where you can see them making horse shoes and wood crafts as well as see the horse and cows getting milked. Then after seeing all those wonderful things I enjoy walking through the museum and see old tools farmers use to use on the farm and learning about them. The things to do and see at The Billings Farm and Museum are endless all you have to do is walk around and pick something to do that your interested in and do it.
Then after you are done exploring The Billings Farm and Museum you could always go and visit the gift shop and pick up a neat gift or two so you always have something to look back on when you want to remember your wonderful day at The Billings Farm. Inside the gift shop you can buy t-shirts, maple syrup, coffee mugs, pencils, post cards, magnets, and many other interesting souvenirs. The gift shop is always the perfect place to go when you want to end a good day at The Billings Farm and Museum.
