My all time favorite must go to place when visiting Rye, New Hampshire is Odiorne Point State Park. It is the perfect place to gaze out into the ocean and breathe in the fresh beach air, while climbing rocks and exploring. You can even take trails along the beach while you ride your bike, roller blade, or walk. Odiorne Point State Park is also a great place to have a picnic on the beach with friends and family, or simply learn about sea creatures of the ocean inside their museum. The things to see and do at Odiorne Point State Park are endless.Odiorne Point State Park is located in Rye, New Hampshire on Route 1A. It is open year round and only cost four dollars for adults and two dollars for children to get in and spend the day. Odiorne Point State Park does have handicap accessible trails for those who are handicap and would like to enjoy the ocean scenery and museum as well.
Some of the things you can do at Odiorne Point State Park would be to visit their Seacoast Science Center. Inside the Seacoast Science Center you will be able to learn about all kinds of sea creatures that live in the ocean surrounding Odiorne Point State Park. Some of the sea creatures you will learn about and see inside the museum will be lobsters, crabs, star fish, and snails. You will even have the opportunity to touch some of these wonderful tide pool sea creature from the ocean as well, which I always enjoy doing.
Other things you can do at Odiorne Point State Park would be to walk the trails along the ocean front. You can even ride your bike or roller blade if you wanted to. The views you will see of the ocean from these trails are simply amazing so don't forget to bring your camera and take several picture. Along the trail you will even see benches to sit in to take a break and just gaze out into the ocean and breathe in that good old fresh beach air that you know will put you to sleep when you get home.
Something else you can do at Odiorne Point State Park is climbing the rocks along the ocean. You can even take a pal and shovel and collect sea shells and sand dollars, however you can not take the tide pool sea creatures you see living in the little pools among the rocks so remember that. It is however okay to pick them up and look at the tide pool sea creatures, but always put them back in the spot you found them because that is their home. Exploring the rocks and ocean tide pools at Odiorne Point State Park was always a favorite thing of mine to do and I know it will be for some of you out there who visit this state park as well.
One more thing you can do at Odiorne Point State Park would be to have a picnic either along the trails, on the rocks, or in the picnic area. Having a picnic at Odiorne Point State Park is peaceful and fun because you can eat while watching the ocean wave's crash against the ocean rocks. You can even get up and run around on the grassy areas and play games such as Frisbee and football after your done having a picnic. You can even lounge around in the sun and just enjoy being at the beach.
The things to do and see at Odiorne Point State Park are endless, so go and enjoy the day there if you're ever visiting Rye, New Hampshire. I know you will fall in love with the place because I know I sure did.
