I am always trying natural dryer sheets to help keep my laundry soft, smelling good, and static and lint free. However, I recently decided to try the Nellie's Dryer Balls which are unscented, but do help soften up the clothing while keeping them lint and static free. I must say I am very impressed with them and will not be going back to dryer sheets anytime soon.
Why am I impressed?
I am impressed because the dryer balls are safe for the environment and for my health. The balls do not contain any harsh chemicals in them and you do not have to toss them away after using them.
About the Dryer Balls
The Nellie's Dryer Balls come in a box with two lavender color balls inside. I believe you can also get them in green; however, I like the lavender. The balls are about the size of tennis balls, but with spikes on them to help keep the laundry from sticking together in the dryer. The balls are also oval shaped a slight bit. The balls are made out of strong materials too so they do not melt in the dryer at any high temperature, which is nice.
How do you use the product?
The way I like to use the dryer balls is by tossing them on top of the laundry I have tossed into the dryer. Then, I turn the dryer on. However, you can place the balls in the dryer before you place the laundry in if you prefer. The balls work good in the dryer for removing static and lint from shirts, pants, underwear, light cotton linens, small towels, dresses and sweaters. With the light laundry my cloths also dry faster with the dryer balls and I don't have to iron after, which is very nice.
However, I did put the balls in with a large blanket and they seemed to tangle up in it. Heavy laundry materials, such as beach towels, bed comforters and jeans do not seem to dry better with the balls in the dryer.
I must say I do like the Nellie's Dryer Balls, but for heavy laundry such as my jeans, towels and blankets, I still like a good natural dryer sheet that does not tangle up with the heavy items in the dryer.
I would definitely recommend these dryer balls to anyone looking for a natural way to help soften up and prevent lint and static in light laundry loads. I do also think these dryer balls are a great way to save money on dryer sheets and I will continue to use them in the future. I do hope those of you who try the dryer balls out like the way the help with laundry day too. If not, I hope you find another laundry product you enjoy better.
