Do you need a welcome floor mat for the entrance way of your cozy home? Do you enjoy stenciling, painting and being creative? If you do, you should seriously think about creating your own welcome door mat using basic materials. Follow the guide below for assistance.

Possible Materials Needed

The materials you will need to create a decorative welcome floor mat are a fiber mat of any color, shape and size, alphabet stencils, stencil paint brushes, any stencil design you want, fabric waterproof paint, masking tape and sharpie markers. You can find and purchase all these materials at any local craft store.

Steps to Creating the Mat

You will take your fiber mat, masking tape, sharpie markers and alphabet stencils and place them in the space you are working in. Next, tape your stencils to the center of the mat spelling out the word WELCOME. After, get ready for some tracing using one of the sharpie markers.

Once you have the word welcome traced out onto the center of your floor mat, you can take other stencil designs if you want, tape those down and trace those onto the mat as well for adding extra creativity.

After, all the stenciling is done, you can pull up the taped down stencils and allow the sharpie marker to set into the mat for a few minutes before beginning to paint.

Next, take a stencil paint brush and some fabric paint and begin painting in the areas you stenciled out. However, you want to make sure you only use a little bit of paint on your brush for painting with because too much paint could bleeds out and wreck your stenciling design.

After all the painting is finished, allow the mat to dry for 24-hours. Once it is dry you can place it by your entry way door as a welcome mat.

End Notes

That's all there is to creating your own welcome floor mat for the entrance way of your home. I hope all of you who try making your own welcome door mat will have a fun and exciting time doing it, and will be very happy with the end results.
