I love the scent of warm cinnamon so much I made a homemade cinnamon liquid potpourri mixture to use in my candle burner. It smells way better than any cinnamon candle does and it leaves a warm clean spicy smelling aroma throughout the air in my home. Best of all if was very affordable to make and burns wonderfully in my candle burner.
The natural ingredients needed to make the cinnamon liquid potpourri are 3 freshly ground cinnamon sticks, 50 drops of cinnamon essential oil, 10 drops of red food coloring and about 2 cups of water. All these ingredients can be found at a grocery store, herbal store and even dollar store.
Creating the Liquid Potpourri
The way to make the liquid potpourri is to take a large empty plastic bottle with a cover on it, and funnel the 3 freshly ground cinnamon sticks, 50 drops of cinnamon essential oil, 10 drops of red food coloring and 2 cups of water into it. Then, remove the funnel from the bottle and place a cover onto the plastic bottle and give the ingredients a good shake together. After you will have a homemade red cinnamon liquid potpourri to use in your candle burner to help add a lovely warm spicy cinnamon aroma to your home.
Using the Liquid Potpourri
The way I like to use the homemade liquid cinnamon potpourri is by pouring about 4 tablespoons into my candle burner. Then I take a tea light candle and place that inside my candle burner and light it up with a candle lighter. After I place the candle burner in a safe place in my home and allow it to release the wonderful warm cinnamon aroma into the air of my home. Just be careful and not forget that you have it lit. Sometimes the candle burner does run out of the potpourri and you do have to refill it or the candle underneath the burner with keep burning and release a nasty burnt cinnamon aroma into the air of your home instead. The potpourri usually last in the burner though for a good 3 to 4 hours before you have to refill it and any good tea light usually last about 4 to 6 hours so you should be okay if you keep an eye on things.
I do hope those of you who make this homemade liquid cinnamon potpourri enjoy making it, but I also hope you enjoy using it in your candle burner to help create a warm cinnamon aroma throughout your home too.
