Homemade chunky sweet honey bbq sauce is one of my most favorite sauces to make for adding flavor to all kinds of meats such as pork ribs and chicken. It has sweet tangy flavor and lots of fresh tomatoes, herbs and spices to give it body, texture and goodness.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ Cups of Organic Ketchup
  • 1 Cup of Brown Sugar
  • 1 Cup of Honey
  • ½ Cup of Vinegar
  • Tablespoon of Worcestershire Sauce
  • Teaspoon Each of Black Pepper, Salt, Garlic Powder, Chili Powder, Onion Powder
  • ¼ Teaspoon of Cayenne Pepper
  • Cup of Sliced up Cherry Tomatoes
  • Forth Cup Each of Finally Chopped up Sweet Onion, Green Bell Pepper and Red Bell Pepper
  • Teaspoon of Minced Garlic

Directions

Measure and pour all the ingredients into a medium size saucepan and bring them to a boil. Once you reach the boiling point, reduce the heat to low and allow the bbq sauce to simmer for thirty minutes to an hour. During this time, it is best to stir the ingredients so they do not stick to the bottom or sides of the pan. You may also add more of any particular ingredient you want to adjust the flavor of the sauce until you achieve the one you desire. Once the sauce is the thickness and flavor you desire, remove it from the stove and allow it to cool in the pan. Once the sauce has cooled, pour it into jars and use the canning method to preserve the sauce so you can store it in the cabinets for later use without it going bad. However, you can use the sauce right away for dressing up meats if you prefer. I do all the time and it taste so much better when it is fresh from the stovetop.
