There is nothing, I love more than garden fresh picked zucchini grilled up and drizzled with olive oil and a bit of fresh herbs and spices as a side dish to a meal or simply as a light lunch. However, I just do not love zucchini because of how delightful this squash taste, but because it can be used in baking dishes and most importantly to help keep me healthy and beautiful. If you do not know already, zucchini is a super food that contains many nourishing nutrients as well as medicinal and beautifying properties. These reasons alone are why I love zucchinis so often for health and beautifying purposes.
What Exactly Are Zucchinis?
For those of you who do not know exactly what zucchinis are, they are type of summer squash that is similar in color and size of a cucumber, but with smooth skins and a firm fleshy light green inside that is not as crisp as cucumbers. The squash typically grows in most vegetable and fruit gardens in the summertime since they are easy to grow. However, you must be warned if you do try to grow zucchinis they need plenty of room since they are a ground vine plant that spreads before baring blossoms and squashes. Once the nourishing zucchinis are fully grown, which is at about eight inches long and two inches wide they can be harvested and used in all kinds of dishes. Some of the best ways zucchinis are enjoyed are in homemade breads, relishes, casserole dishes, soups, stir-fries and in vegetable medley side dishes to go along with meals.
The Nourishing and Beautifying Nutrients in Zucchinis
The nutrients in zucchinis that help nourish the body and keep us looking and feeling youthful and beautiful are the vitamins C and A, minerals such as calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, zinc and sodium and nutrients such as the proteins, omega fatty acids and carbohydrates for energy. In addition, the squash contains plenty of water, which is essential for keeping our bodies hydrated and youthful naturally. Now, since these nutrients are in zucchinis, this means eating zucchinis on a daily basis can provide the body with natural mild anti-inflammatory, pain relieving, anti-aging and cancer preventing properties.
Main Reason I Add Zucchinis to My Diet
The main reason I have added zucchinis to my daily diet is because of the high amounts of antioxidants, vitamins C and A, and minerals the squash contains that helps reduce the inflammation in my respiratory system that causes asthma attacks. In addition, the vitamin C in zucchinis alone help reduce my bruising since I bruise easily and it provides nutrients that help protect my eyes from loosing vision, which is greatly needed since cataracts runs in my family. I also eat the zucchinis often because the nutrients they contain help prevent signs of aging while keeping the skin radiant, hydrated and acne free. I do notice in the wintertime when I am not eating them as much my skin gets a bit dull, which is why I can honestly say zucchinis do add youthfulness and an even complexion to my skin when they are a constant in my daily diet.
My Favorite Ways to Use and Eat Zucchinis
My favorite ways to eat zucchinis are grilled up in a skillet pan on a grill or sautéed in a pan over the stove and than drizzled with olive oil and fresh herbs and spices such as garlic powder, onion chives, black pepper and sea salt. However, zucchinis do taste amazing chopped up and sautéed in vegetable stir-fries or added onto kabobs sticks. For me, these ways are the easiest ways to get them into my daily diet, but I also enjoy dicing them up and placing them into soups too such as minestrone as well. Whichever way you decide to get them into your daily diet to help improve your health and your beauty is up to you.
My favorite way to use zucchinis for beautifying my face and skin is by slicing a zucchini up just like you would a cucumber into round little slices, and than I place them onto my skin and eyes, just as you would cucumber slices. As the slices sit on the skin the vitamin C and A along with the minerals and antioxidants from the zucchinis absorb into the skin, which helps awaken it so it does not look so dull and stressed out. In addition, it helps fight fine lines and age spots while toning and firming the skin up too. However, these are only results I have found since using this little beauty trick. Everyone's skin is different and may respond differently to natural beauty remedies. Luckily, for me, the zucchini facial really does wonders for my combination skin type.
