I recently received a free sample COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast eye shadow in the Silver Sky shade. I must say I wasn't overly thrilled with the eye shadow, but it does work well if you are trying to give your eyes a pop of color, or sparkle for a fun night out of the town. The COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast eye shadow in Silver Sky comes in the form of a two-sided eye shadow stick where both ends roll up and down like a lip balm.
The shades the eye shadow stick comes in are basically purple and a grayish-blue color with sparkles. The eye shadow glides on nicely to the eyes, but when you want to blend the two shades together to achieve a smoky look it's kind of hard to do because the eye shadow tends to dry really fast. Once the eye shadow is on, it doesn't seem to last very long on the eyelids. I personally think this eye shadow stick would make a great eye shadow touch up stick, but nothing more, because I don't think it is meant to wear for long periods of time. I wore this eye shadow out and it only lasted 3 hours on my eyelids before it started to smudge and come off. I personally think this eye shadow is messy, but I guess it really depends if you like a smudged look or not.
I applied the COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast eye shadow to my eyelids by first applying the light shade, which was the grayish-blue sparkly shade over my entire eyelid. Then I took the purple shade and tried to blend it in on the corner of my eyes for a smoky-eyed appearance. However, I had a hard time blending the eye shadows together because they dry too fast. I personally didn't like these shades because they didn't really go with my skin tone. I like a more natural look and this cosmetic product didn't achieve that. However, I recently bought another COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast eye shadow in a different shade and liked it a lot better. So, those of you who end up trying the Silver Sky shade and don't like it; there are plenty of other shades for you to try.
The texture of the COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast eye shadow was very waxy, but rubbed onto the skin like a powder would. The ingredients in this eye shadow stick are minerals, parabens, vitamins and waxes. These ingredients are both natural and unnatural, which I do not like. I prefer to wear organic makeup because it doesn't contain any harsh ingredients that cause my sensitive skin to breakout. Unfortunately, this eye shadow tends to do that after an hour of wearing it.
If you end up trying the COVERGIRL Smoky ShadowBlast eye shadow in Silver Sky, you can find it at your local drugstore like Walmart or Target. I believe the price of the eye shadow is around $6. I hope those of you who try the eye shadow like it better than I do. I wish you all the best of luck with achieving your smoky eye look.
