In the summertime, I love my skin to be soft, glowing and beautiful because I am always in a bikini enjoying the summer sun while hanging out with my friends. I would hate to be walking around in a bikini around my friends with rough dull looking skin. One of my favorite ways to help keep my skin healthy and youthful as well as looking and feeling beautiful in the summertime is with my tangerine body butter bars. The smell of the bars alone is citrus smelling and summery, but also very uplifting to the mind making it the perfect mood booster too.Organic Ingredients Needed
The organic ingredients I use to make the tropical scented bars are mango butter, beeswax, tangerine essential oil and coconut oil. These ingredients not only soften the skin, but they help preserve the youthfulness of the skin too while also making it smell summery and delightful. You can find these pampering ingredients at a local spa shop or whole food grocery store. Sometimes I even purchase them online from an online drugstore such as Vitacost or Drugstore.com.
The materials you will need to create the bars are a slow-cooker, silicone body butter molds, cookie sheet and a small glass measuring cup with a handle and a spout. You can find these ingredients at a craft store near you or online at an online craft store. I tend to have these supplies on hand all the time because I make these butter bars often.
Making the Tangerine Body Butter Bars
To make the bars, all I do is measure out two cups each of mango butter and beeswax, add in twenty to twenty-five drops of tangerine essential oil and four tablespoons of coconut oil into my slow-cooker. Then, I turn my slow-cooker on low heat and melt the ingredients down into an oily liquid, which takes about an hour.
While the ingredients melt, I set up my silicone molds onto a cookie sheet so they are easy to transport into the refrigerator once they are filled. Then, as soon as the ingredients are in liquid form I take my small measuring cup and scoop up some of the liquid with it. After, I fill the molds up with the oily liquid until they are full. Next, I place the filled molds into the refrigerator and allow them to chill for two to three hours. After, I remove them from the molds and place them into a large sealed container and store them in the refrigerator until I am ready to use them. Leaving the body bars out on hot days or in warm rooms could melt them back down into a liquid creating a mess. I only take a body butter out when I need it and put it back into the container in the refrigerator after I am done using it.
Using the Bars
My favorite way to use the butter bars is by taking one in my hands and rubbing it all over my body and skin from head to toe while also focusing on the rough dry spots that need softening. As the bar is rubbed all over the body and skin, it begins to melt do to the heat the body gives off. As it melts, it will also give off a lovely citrus tangerine scent that is summery sweet and will eave your skin smelly lovely.
Once your done massaging your body down with the moisturizing bar, it is best to take your hands and massage the rest of the moisturizing ingredients that come from the it, into your skin. After, allow the ingredient to absorb into the skin before putting on clothing because it can leave you a bit greasy, but the greasiness goes away within minutes. I know as I wait for the butter to absorb into my skin, I brush my teeth and do other beauty tasks to help make me feel good and keep me looking good. Once all the butter is absorbed into my skin it is super soft and glowing because of all the lovely conditioning and beautifying ingredients in the bar.
To help maintain beautiful skin throughout the summer, use the tangerine bars as often as you would like. I use mine every day throughout the summer and my skin looks, feels and smells beautiful. I hope yours does too.
