Once in awhile I like to use baby powder on my skin to help soothe and relieve the dry itchiness. However, I do not like to use drugstore brand baby powders. I actually like to make my very own baby powder using all natural ingredients that are safe for the skin and body, but have the same effects of regular drugstore baby powder.
The natural ingredients I use to make my very own baby powder are 2 cups of 100% organic cornstarch, 10 drops of lavender oil, 15 drops of chamomile oil and 5 drops of menthol oil. These ingredients are very soothing to my skin and help relieve the itchiness almost immediately. All these ingredients can be found at your local grocery store and whole food store and are affordable.
The way I make my homemade baby powder is by pouring the 2 cups of 100% organic cornstarch, 10 drops of lavender oil, 15 drops of chamomile oil and 5 drops of menthol oil into a medium mixing bowl. Then I take a spoon and combined them together until I get a fine lavender chamomile scented baby powder. After I pour the homemade baby powder into a large sized shaker bottle and store in my bathroom until I am ready to use it.
Now there are a few way you can use this homemade baby powder. The way I have been using is by shaking a little out onto my body after my bath at nighttime to help soothe my skin, but you can use it after a shower or when you need to relieve dryness and itchiness. Another way is by sprinkling a little bit onto baby's bottom when they have a diaper rash to relieve the burning sensation they are having and to help keep them dry. My boyfriend likes to use it in his shoes to help keep his feet dry, but simply shaking the powder directly into his shoes. It does make a slight mess in his shoes, but they are drier and a lot less smellier. You can even use it on your back and stomach to help relieve aches, pains and cramping because it does have a slight cooling sensation to it that provides immediate relief from pain. I personally like to use it to help keep my dry and smelling fresh instead of using a chemical filled deodorant. However, you can use it which ever way you would like. It really is a multi purpose body care product.
Anyways, so next time your looking for a baby powder skip the drugstore chemical filled brand ones and make your own homemade one using natural ingredients. I do hope those of you who make this homemade baby powder like the way it works and smells. I wish you all the best with staying fresh and clean.
