One of my favorite herbs to use to help slow down the aging process and pamper my body and skin is vanilla bean. I use vanilla beans in my homemade anti-aging vanilla bean face and body mask because of all the antioxidants the beans contain that help fight off free radical cells that cause signs of aging and skin cancers. Along with those benefits, the herb helps treat physical and mental stresses too, and we all know that reducing stress helps keep us young and full of life.
Natural Nourishing Ingredients Needed for the Vanilla Bean Mask
The natural nourishing ingredients needed to create my anti-aging vanilla bean face and body mask are easy to find at an herbal shop or bulk spa shop near you. Those ingredients are three organic Madagascar vanilla beans, forth cup of vitamin E oil, one cup of aloe juice, two cups of kaolin clay powder and one cup of pure dark chocolate cocoa powder.
Now, if you cannot find kaolin clay that is because it has another name too. That name is, "China Clay." If you still cannot find this mineral rich clay you may use French clay powder, Bentonite clay, White clay, or Rhassoul clay. All clay powders are mineral rich, and will nourish and purify the skin naturally. I just prefer using kaolin clay in my anti-aging vanilla bean mask.
Reasons Why These Particular Ingredients Are Used in the Mask
You know why the vanilla beans and kaolin clay powder is used in the mask, but you are probably wondering why the other ingredients are used.
I use pure vitamin E oil in the mask because it is a potent antioxidant that helps prevent and reduce signs of aging. In addition, the vitamin helps prevent skin cancer and keeps the skin's tissues healthy and strong.
Aloe juice is useful because it is soothing, healing, nourishing and rejuvenating to the skin. It also helps reduce signs of aging while treating blemishes, blackheads, white heads, acne scars and red inflamed flaky skin caused by eczema.
The organic dark cocoa powder use in the mask is also loaded with antioxidants that help fight signs of aging too. In addition, cocoa powder also helps promote collagen production underneath the skin so it can stay plumped up and youthful instead of old and sagging.
Creating the Vanilla Bean Mask
To create the vanilla bean mask you will need a large mixing bowl, a hand mixer or mixing machine such as a Kitchenaid, a spatula and a glass jar. Once you have these materials you can begin making the mask.
When you are ready to make the mask, carefully measure out all the ingredients you need and pour them into the mixing bowl, and then slice open the vanilla beans and scrape out the seeds into the mixing bowl too. Then, beat the ingredients together on medium to high speed until you get a thick creamy chocolaty looking mask with a strong vanilla bean aroma.
If you find the mask is too thick in texture, you can adjust the texture by adding a little bit more aloe juice or vitamin E oil. If you find the mask is too runny, than feel free to add in more cocoa powder or clay powder until it thickens up and you achieve the texture you desire. I prefer a thick creamy texture because it is easier to apply to the skin and sticks onto the body better. The last thing you want is a dripping messy face and body mask.
Once you have created the vanilla bean mask the way you desire it to be, go ahead and scoop it into a large wide mouth Mason jar or bowl and take it into the bathroom to use right away. You want to use the mask right away because it is fresh and contains the most potent nutrients in it to help nourish, rejuvenate and pamper the skin from head to toe.
Applying the Vanilla Bean Face and Body Mask Properly
Before I ever apply the vanilla bean face and body mask to my skin from head to toe, I exfoliate my skin in a hot shower using a homemade sugar scrub from head to toe first. Exfoliating the skin helps remove dead skin and gently cleanse it well. When the skin is well exfoliated and cleansed, the mask is able to soak into it deeply and nourish it a lot more with the potent ingredients in the mask.
To apply the mask, take a heaping scoop of it with your hands and place a nice even thick layer onto the face. Then, take another scoop and lather it onto your body from head to toe. You might want to consider applying this mask in the bathtub or shower area because it can get messy.
Once the mask is applied to the skin, you will want to leave it on the body and face for about thirty minutes. You can wrap a towel on you and just lie down in an empty bathtub and read a book or listen to music until the time is up.
When you are ready to remove the mask from your face and body, simply remove the towel, stand under the shower and rinse off with plenty of warm water.
After the mask is rinsed off, towel dry yourself with a warm cotton towel and apply your favorite vanilla body lotion to help hydrate and nourish the skin even more. My favorite body lotion to use is the Vanilla Dee Lite from Lush Cosmetics. I love this body lotion because it smells of sweet vanilla and is made from natural nourishing ingredients that soften and pamper the skin well. However, you use your own favorite vanilla body lotion or cream.
To help keep skin well pampered and youthful, use this vanilla bean face and body mask once per week. The more often you use the mask, the better the results will be for having youthful glowing soft skin.
